Sharon Hamilton

I am a dedicated yoga and mindfulness teacher/leader with 20 years of experience guiding students toward greater well-being. I was certified to teach Ashtanga yoga in 2006 by David Swenson and completed my 200-hour teacher training in 2017. In addition to my yoga expertise, I have been certified in Level 3 Thai massage, which has greatly complemented my teaching of movement, alignment, and bodywork.

I am deeply committed to mindfulness-based practices, having completed Mindful Leadership training and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) courses in 2023. I strive to integrate these practices into my teaching, helping students and professionals cultivate awareness, resilience, and balance in their daily lives.

With 31 years of experience in the post-secondary sector, I have written curriculum* and taught numerous wellness courses at Red Deer Polytechnic, including KPAC 255* (Intro to Yoga), KPAC 296 (Flexibility and Relaxation), INTD 325 * (Meditation, Mindfulness and the Body), KNSS 210 (Fitness and Wellness), and KNSS 244 (Nutrition). I have also held positions as an athletic therapist, women’s basketball coach, Kinesiology and Sport Studies instructor, and chairperson. I served as both associate dean and dean in the School of Health and Wellness from which I recently retired after serving 11 years as an academic administrator.

I am excited about the opportunity to share my expertise in leadership, yoga and mindfulness.
