I found yoga in the Los Angeles area in 2004. Monica Matthews became my mentor and with her encouragement, I attended my teacher training at White Lotus in Santa Barbara in 2009. After moving to MS, I taught at the YMCA and on base before opening my studio, Bliss Yoga. I sold the studio before returning to my home, York County.
I am a firm believer that yoga is for everyone and any body. Yoga is a full body workout and can also be a powerful stress relieving, renewing/replenishing session that brings healing and mental clarity. As one yoga great said years ago, yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured, and endure what cannot be cured. In my opinion, every class can be challenging, playful and unique. The teacher and student strive to find our own perfect pose each day for our own bodies on that day. Yoga is all about self compassion, learning to forgive and love ourselves again, then focusing on living in the present, we are able to give our best to those around us.
I believe there is no one-size fits all fitness program. Especially in yoga, everyone's practice is unique and personal. Working within our limits (while sometimes pushing them) we find our "perfect" place in each posture, and it can vary day to day. I teach compassion, peace and contentment. Happiness and fitness is an inside job!
