Thank you so much for joining me on a journey of self-discovery and healing. Before
you join me in a group setting, I would like to answer many of the most common
questions regarding hypnosis and sound healing. Hypnosis is a fascinating subject
often for many shrouded in mystery. I hope that by answering some questions about
it I will be able to clear any misconceptions and provide valuable sights into the
subject.

The Conscious Mind
Some aspect of our mind’s performance is focused on the present awareness, and
this is referred to as our “conscious” mind. It evaluates information and makes
judgements . As such, it can either help or hinder us. The conscious mind has a
“gate keeper” function, rejecting that which does not fit its belief system. Therefore,
the conscious mind can accept or reject any idea or suggestion, and it is where “free
will” resides. Many consider the conscious mind to be around 8-10% of your mind
processing. The conscious mind is part of the mind involves all the things you’re
currently aware of and are thinking about. It contains all the thoughts, feelings
memories and wishes of which we are aware of at any given moment. It is somewhat
like short term memory and has limited capacity. Your awareness of yourself and the
world around you are part of your consciousness.
The conscious mind processes up to 40 environmental stimuli per second.

Subconscious Mind
Many people use the analogy of a computer to explain the conscious/subconscious
mind. The computer screen is what you see on the screen (conscious mind) and the
subconscious mind is everything else, the processes, the storage, the cloud. The
subconscious mind develops and grows with all our life experiences, learning and
automatic functions. All our involuntary actions such as breathing, and heart beats
are controlled by the subconscious mind. All our emotions are regulated by the
subconscious mind, as well as beliefs and memories. The subconscious mind is an
immensely powerful information processor. It processes 20 million environmental
stimuli per second. The subconscious mind is not capable of reasoning or logic, it
only accepts what is presented to it as true . It is also not capable of distinguishing
between reality and imagination.
It is believed that the subconscious mind is responsible for 95% of our thoughts,
feelings, and behaviours . The subconscious mind is also responsible for our beliefs,
values, and attitudes .Therefore, to really create change and help people move
towards their goals hypnosis is very beneficial. It allows a hypnotherapist to work
directly with the subconscious mind.

Common Questions
1. What is Hypnosis? Hypnosis is a focused state of attention and when in
hypnosis there is an increased suggestibility. It allows for access to the
subconscious mind. When in hypnosis you’re in complete control. It is not a
form of mind control or magic, instead a therapeutic tool used by trained
professionals.
2. What is hypnotherapy? It involves the application of hypnosis as a
therapeutic tool. It involves a trained hypnotherapist guiding individuals into a
hypnotic/trance to work on certain issues and challenges. It can address a
number of issues such as depression, anxiety, confidence, pain, IBS.
3. Can anyone be hypnotized? Many people believe that they cannot be
hypnotized, however almost everyone can be hypnotized if they’re willing and
open to the process. Everyone experiences hypnosis differently, some may
find it easier to go into a trance like state , while others need more time. Most
importantly, it is a collaboration between client and hypnotherapist.
4. Is hypnosis safe? When delivered by trained professionals it is considered
safe. It is a valuable therapeutic tool for healing and self-discovery.
5. Can I get stuck in hypnosis? A lot of people believe they can get stuck in
hypnosis, and this belief is generally formed from the media. This is however
untrue. Hypnosis is a natural state of relaxation. We go into hypnosis many
times a day; for example, when we watch a film, we zone out, or when we
drive a car, we make forget certain aspects of the journey because we are in a
trance like state. As such, you will either wake up naturally or drift into regular
sleep.
6. Will I say things I don’t remember or lets out personal secrets during
hypnosis? You are in control throughout the session and you’re conscious of
what you’re saying.
7. Can Hypnosis make me do something against my will? Hypnosis cannot
make you do anything against your ethics, morals or will. You remain in
control.
8. What does hypnosis feel like? For some it feels like deep relaxation, with a
heightened awareness and focus. It varies between individuals, but you
remain conscious and in control throughout. Some people feel like their body
is floating, some people feel like their body is heavy.
9. Are there any side effects to hypnosis? Hypnosis has no harmful side
effects , some people may experience emotional reactions , but these are
manageable with the guidance of a trained hypnotherapist.
10. What’s the difference between hypnosis and Meditation? While both
induce relaxation, hypnosis actively works the subconscious mind for specific
changes and goals. Meditation, however, focuses on being present and
focuses on mindfulness and self-awareness without targeting specific
behavioural changes.
11. Is there scientific evidence supporting hypnotherapy? Yes, there is a
growing body of scientific research demonstrating the efficacy of
hypnotherapy for various conditions like Pain Management, IBS, Anxiety, and
behavioural changes. Please look at the NHS link regarding hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy - NHS (www.nhs.uk)
12. Can hypnosis assist in spiritual exploration? Yes, it can facilitate spiritual
awareness and exploration, it can enable inner guide connection and also
help understand person spiritual beliefs.
13. How does hypnosis interact with the subconscious mind? Hypnosis
communicates directly with the subconscious mind, accessing memories,
emotions, behaviour, dreams, allowing for a very real change at a deep level.
14. Is hypnosis like mindfulness? While both involve focus and awareness,
hypnosis specifically aims at therapeutic change, whereas mindfulness
emphasizes being present without a goal or goals for change.

SOUND HEALING
BENEFITS OF CRYSTAL AND TIBETAN BOWLS
I am committed to help individuals understand how healing takes place during a
sound healing session. I will highlight how it works and why, the benefits of sound
using Crystal Quartz and Tibetan bowls.
Benefits of crystal and Tibetan bowls
 Improve circulation and increase blood flow.
 Reduce stress and anxiety.
 Lower anger and blood pressure
 Deep relaxation and pain relief
 Chakra balancing
 Increase mental and emotional clarity.
 Remove blockages and toxins from the body balances both hemispheres of
the brain.
 Sends healing to al cells of your brain.
 Helps insomnia and sleep issues, the effects from the treatment can last
several days.
 Promotes stillness, happiness, and well-being.
 Stimulates the nervous system.
 Helps connect to your higher self.

How Do Crystal Bowls and Tibetan bowls Work?
Nothing rests, everything moves, everything vibrates. At the fundamental level, the
universe and everything which comprises it is pure vibratory energy.
Everything is energy, with its own vibrational frequency. Quantum physics is proving
this to be true.
Generally, a healthy body vibrates at around 68-72 mhz. However, when we are
dealing with stress, anxiety, fear, tension, depression, grief it creates and imbalance
in the cells and organs. This causes us to vibrate at a lower frequency of 60mhz or
even lower. By using Quartz Crystal bowls and metal singing bowls it increases the
vibration in our body and makes us feel better and heals us.
Quartz crystal singing bowls can bring us back into our natural state of balance,
helping to realign the chakras, our aura and physical body to its natural state of
harmony and vibration. Sound bowls/singing bowls increases vibration in our body
and healing takes place.
When you experience sound therapy the sound vibrations impact your nervous
system which engages your relaxation reflex and inhibits the stress and pain
responses, as such , it induces an altered state of consciousness.
The bowls used within the session are made from quartz crystal, these bowls create
a wonderful vibration that will amplify and transform healing energies which are
stored within the bowl.
During the session, the sound from the bowls help change your brain waves, moving
from potentially the Beta (normal waking state ) brainwave into Theta brainwave
frequencies, helping to promote healing. In addition, it will also create a balance and
harmonization in the left and right hemispheres of the brain. The sounds during your
session work on all levels; physically, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. I would
like to explain further how sound can truly heal by highlighting how brainwave states
enable us to naturally restore both body and mind.

DELTA WAVES (0.1-4HZ)
Delta waves are low and slow frequency waves at high amplitude (0.1-4HZ). Delta is
considered your unconscious mind. You are not aware of what happens in this state.
This level is associated with deep self-healing and regeneration. You go to sleep and
your body goes to work healing you. It is a wonderful deep sleep state. From the age
of 0-2 years, you are naturally always in Delta Brainwave state.

THETA WAVES (4-8HZ)
Theta brainwave state is what we use when we are in hypnosis and during sound
healing. This is the wonderful state between awake and asleep and is related to the
subconscious mind. Your body is asleep, but your brain is still awake. This is a
powerful state. This state allows individuals to tap into their higher self, intuition, and
creativity. As such, when using this wonderful frequency healing, balance and mood
improves. Interestingly, from the age of 2-6 years you are naturally always in Theta
brainwave state.

ALPHA (9-13HZ)
This is what is called “The Zone” state. It is a very focused state . Great for learning,
mental coordination, alertness, and calmness. Alpha is the power of now, being here,
in the present moment. You can engage in the environment and activities. From the
age of 6-12 you are naturally in the Alpha brainwave state.

BETA (14-30HZ)
Beta brainwaves dominate our normal waking state. It is great for problem solving
and functioning in day-to-day activities. Beta is split into three groups: low, mid, and
high Beta.

GAMMA (30-100HZ)
Gamma is a high brain wave state. It is a cognitive state and is produced when the
sympathetic nervous system begins to release energy back up to the brain. This
intense energy that you use to eat food or run from a predator travel from the lower
energy centres into the brain. It is a high level of information processing,
transcendental.

SEVEN CHAKRAS
The Sanskrit word Chakra translates to wheel or disk. Chakras are energy centres
within the human body that help to regulate all its processes, from emotions to organ
function and the immune system. Each Chakra has its own vibrational frequency,
colour and governs specific functions that help make you. As such, your energy, and
blocked energy in our seven chakras can often lead to illness. However, crystal
bowls will heal and awaken, as well as release the blockages, disease, and ailments.
As previously touched on, the bowls can help align the seven chakras. Below the
image explains each chakra , what each chakra deals with.
For example, if you’re suffering with confusion, no connection, mental illness,
depression, loneliness then potentially your crown chakra is blocked. The B note
(768 HZ) played by the crystal bowls can help align you, allowing for unity, wisdom,
transcendence, and happiness.
If you’re suffering with vision problems, indecisiveness , feeling stuck, lack of
direction then potentially your Third Eye chakra is blocked. The A note (426.7HZ)
played by the crystal bowls can help align you, allowing for intuition, wisdom,
openness, and vision.
If find you fear speaking out, have a lack of purpose, suffer with anxiety then
potentially your Throat chakra is blocked. The G note (384 HZ) played by the crystal
bowls can help align you, allowing for greater communication, expression,
inspiration, self-expression, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
If you’re suffering with grief, anger , unforgiveness, depression, excessive
isolation ,jealousy, defensiveness , fear of intimacy or resentment then potentially
your heart chakra is blocked. The F note (341.3 HZ ) played by the crystal bowls
can help align you, allowing for unconditional love, balance, compassion, and inner
peace.
If you’re suffering with low self-esteem, low self-confidence, digestive issues , fatigue
then potentially your solar plexus chakra is blocked. The E note (320 HZ) played by
the crystal bowls can help align you, allowing for self-worth, self-confidence , will
power, humour, laughter, and personal responsibility.
If you’re suffering with isolation, sexual problems, emotional isolation, withheld
intimacy then potentially your Sacral chakra is blocked. The D note (288 HZ) played
by the crystal bowls can help align you, allowing joy, creativity, pleasure, self-
expression, and creativity
If you’re suffering with Fear, anxiety, selfishness then potentially your Root chakra is
blocked. The C note (256 HZ) played by the crystal bowls can help align you,
allowing for stability, security, patience, and foundation.

GONG BATH BENEFITS
Gong meditation is a unique type of sound practice that involves using therapeutic
gong sounds and vibrations to bring about healing. This practice is also sometimes
referred to as a “gong bath” because participants are “bathed” in meditation gong
sound waves. Before human language developed, there were sounds, rhythms,
music. Throughout the ages, every culture has used sound to communicate to
soothe and rouse. The gong is one of the oldest man-made sounds dating back over
5,000 years, playing an important role in ceremonies and healing.
Gong sound therapy has been practiced for thousands of years. Many believe that
gong baths can help reduce stress and release emotional blockages. Scientific
evidence suggests that certain forms of sound therapy help damaged human DNA
strands to repair themselves. Some tones are thought to promote vitality and healing
and enhance happiness. Many alternative healthcare clinics offer sound therapies
such as gong meditation to help manage various ailments. Music therapy is the most
mainstream form of sound therapy and has been shown to relieve a number of
problems, including pain, loneliness, and depression. Sound therapy has long been
used to manage a broad range of health conditions. The treatments are based on
the understanding that all forms of matter – including our body’s cells – vibrate at
different frequencies. Factors such as stress, depression and disease cause cells
and organs within our bodies to vibrate at non-optimal frequencies.

BENEFITS OF DRUMMING
The rhythmic beat helps induce a meditative state and facilitate a deeper connection
with ourselves. Can assist in releasing emotional tension and promoting inner peace.
 Releasing emotional blockages
 Promoting a sense of connection with self, and the natural world
 Helps immune system.
 Can alleviate chronic pain.
 Strengthens spiritual connections.
 Enhances self-awareness.
 Enhances discovery and intuition.
 Reduces anxiety, stress, and depression.

RESEARCH SUPPORTING THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF SOUND BATHS
Research undertaken at Sussex University (2022) found that Sound bowls (singing
bowls), Tibetan and crystal bowls interact with and through the biofield (energy field).
This is an electromagnetic field that is believed to surround and interact with the
human body. They suggested that interactions within this biofield plays a role in
overall health and well-being. Therefore, research found that it is possible for sound
waves from vibrational instruments to alter and affect the human biofield in a positive
way.
Research found that Sound baths also activate the Vagus nerve, also known as the
tenth cranial nerve, which plays a role in regulating involuntary functions of the body,
such as heart rate, respiratory rate, and digestion. So, when the Vagus nerve is
activated, it is activating the body’s relaxation response (Parasympathetic nervous
system) and induces a state of rest, digest, and calmness. Thus, moving the
individual from the Sympathetic nervous system or fight and flight (stress) response.
Therefore, due to sound activating the nerve it allows for optimal states of healing in
sessions.

A 2016 observational study of 62 subjects found that participants who meditated with
singing bowls reported lower levels of anger, tension, fatigue, and depression.

A 2018 randomized controlled study looked at the effects that listening to sound had
on 60 participants who listened to singing bowls before surgery. They found that they
had lower heart rates, suggesting lower anxiety and stress.

A 2022 study found that sound baths was associated with increases in spiritual well-
being and a reduction in tension and depressed moods. Researchers found that
these effects can even be experienced in a single session.

A 2020 Meta-Analysis (including four prior studies on singing bowls) found that
participants stress levels, heart rates all lowered, and feelings of anger reduced.
The researchers found there was evidence that singing bowls improved well-being,
reduced depression and pain and fatigue symptoms improved.

Sound based vibration treatment has also been able to show that people with pain
from arthritis, menstrual pain, postoperative pain, and knee replacement pain have
been helped. Also, helping to improve mobility, reduce muscle pain increase
circulation and lower blood pressure.

Dr. Tamara Goldsby is a clinical research psychologist revealed that sound baths—
especially using the Tibetan singing bowl—result in a state of deep relaxation for
participants. In her sound research found that tension was significantly
reduced following a sound bath that featured singing bowls (as well as gongs, crystal
singing bowls, and other vibrational instruments). In addition, she discovered that
other negative mood states (such as depression and anger) were also substantially
reduced. Moreover, spiritual well-being was found to increase, and physical pain was
reduced. It is interesting to note that we discovered that those new to sound bath
had even more tension reduction following the therapy. Therefore, participants who
were new to the practice may expect positive results.
Other recent studies (2023) have had similar findings regarding tension reduction
resulting from singing bowls, including a study that examined tension and
relaxation via the EEG (electroencephalogram). Additional EEG studies with singing
bowl vibration have revealed similar stress and tension reducing effects.
