Professional Biography

Born in New York and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Matt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing/Communications from the University of Connecticut where he was a 4-year member of the varsity ice hockey team. Upon graduating from college and traveling/playing hockey in Europe, Matt worked for the National Basketball Association ("NBA") in New York as "Director of Partnerships and Programming". In his role, Matt oversaw the execution and fulfillment of sponsor and licensing TV commitments as well as non-game programs and live events with major networks including Nickelodeon, Fox Sports, NBC, MTV and YTV (Canada). 

In 2000, after opening his own My Gym Children’s Fitness Center franchise the prior year, Matt joined the parent company, My Gym Enterprises, ("MGE"), as “Regional Director”. During his 20+ year tenure at MGE, he quickly grew to the position of "Executive VP, Marketing" and was a member of the executive management team overseeing the growth of the company from 20 U.S. locations to over 750 locations worldwide. Matt was responsible for all corporate & franchise branding, national advertising campaigns, PR, and other marketing efforts including the blossoming social media opportunities at the time. In 2009, Matt assumed the additional role of "Head of Business Development", securing sponsorships and strategic alliances with such companies as Playskool, Disney, and Huggies, just to name a few. 

Matt has been a featured speaker at UCLA’s Anderson School of Business and was an Advisory Board Member of Yowza, International, a mobile based marketing company. Matt is a proud Alumni Board Member of The Northwood School in Lake Placid, NY where he attended prior to college as well as a board member of Positive Impact for Kids, a 501(c)(3) non-profit striving to improve the hospital experience for children receiving inpatient medical care in the United States.

In 2020, after securing his USPTA (now RSPA) Professional Teaching Certification, Matt launched his own company "Apres' Racquet & Paddle" on the South Shore of Boston, MA. His company runs a multitude of racquet sport programs for both junior (4 yrs+) and adult players including private & semi private lessons, clinics, special events, tournaments, and retreats. Matt also was a staff teaching pro at The Cohasset Tennis Club in Massachusetts from 2020-2023. 

Matt is happily married to his partner of 20+ years, Trish, and has two step-children, Cailey and Noel. Matt & Trish reside in Hingham, MA as well as part time in Sedona, AZ.
