A teacher by trade, Lisa grew up in Pennsylvania but fell in love with Colorado when she worked at an adventure summer camp backpacking through the Collegiate Peaks with middle schoolers. Passionate about the outdoors, she dreamed of living out west, eventually in 2012 taking a job as a middle and high school music teacher in Olathe. As someone who loves whitewater, it only made sense for Lisa to pair her teaching career with river guiding in the summers.

After seven years of teaching, Lisa took a job working at a pool which gave her the opportunity to teach aqua fitness classes and learn more through WaterArt Fitness.  As someone who is happiest when on, in or near the water, Lisa loves sharing her passion for water with others. Lisa is certified in shallow and deep water as well as an Arthritis focus. She enjoys teaching, especially deep water and aqua spin classes.

After her years in education and working in pools, Lisa fell into raft guiding full time where she spent years working in both Western Colorado and Costa Rica managing logistics, helping train young guides, and advocating for a Costa Rican national river guide standard. She loves sharing rivers with people of all ages, especially youth, and has loved learning more about sustainable tourism and river law. Lisa loved her time in Costa Rica and enjoys practicing her Spanish and cooking up local delicacies.

Lisa moved to Grand Junction in the spring of 2022 where she currently works full time as the River Program Manager for Colorado Canyons Association, a non-profit in Grand Junction which focuses on stewardship and education in the surrounding National Conservation Areas. During the summer months you can find Lisa rafting down the Colorado and Gunnison rivers with students in tow teaching them about our local landscapes.

Lisa found Crossroads Fitness this August through friends and enthusiastic members who encouraged her to join and continue her aqua fitness teaching career like she did in Montrose.

Lisa’s fiance Mark lives in Montrose and you can find them on the weekends rafting, hiking, adventuring, doing house projects, experimenting with new recipes, and petting the fuzzy belly of their cat Giblet.
