Hector A. Hernandez
Force Fitness Instructor | USMC (Ret.) | HIT Level II Certified | Group & Personal Training Specialist
With over 25 years of honorable service in the United States Marine Corps, I bring extensive experience as a Force Fitness Instructor dedicated to improving operational readiness, physical performance, and injury prevention for Marines. As a certified High-Intensity Tactical Training (HITT) Level II instructor, I have led and designed comprehensive training programs tailored to both individuals and groups, directly supporting the physical conditioning of over 30 Marines at any given time.
Throughout my career, I have been responsible for conducting daily physical training sessions, developing individualized fitness plans, and implementing mission-specific conditioning regimens. I specialize in integrating strength training, mobility work, and metabolic conditioning using the principles of HITT and Marine Corps Fitness Standards. My expertise includes evaluating physical readiness, tracking progress through data-driven assessments, and adapting programs for both high-performing athletes and those recovering from injury.
Key responsibilities and accomplishments include:
-
Program Development & Leadership: Created progressive 8- to 12-week training cycles that aligned with unit deployment schedules and fitness test requirements. Managed warm-up, conditioning, strength, and cooldown components for platoon-sized groups.
-
Personalized Coaching: Delivered one-on-one training sessions for Marines needing targeted interventions—whether for injury rehabilitation, body composition improvements, or enhancing Combat Fitness Test (CFT) and Physical Fitness Test (PFT) scores.
-
Injury Prevention & Recovery: Collaborated with corpsmen and physical therapists to develop corrective movement strategies, flexibility routines, and recovery protocols that reduced non-deployable status due to musculoskeletal injuries.
-
Instructional Excellence: Conducted educational sessions on performance nutrition, sleep hygiene, and recovery methods. Led workshops to teach proper lifting mechanics, functional movement, and high-intensity interval training.
-
Mentorship & Motivation: Cultivated a culture of discipline and camaraderie, encouraging Marines to exceed standards while building mental toughness and resilience through challenging yet sustainable fitness programming.
Now retired from active duty, I continue to leverage my military training and fitness expertise to help individuals and organizations build peak performance environments rooted in accountability, functional strength, and holistic wellness.
