Pranayama ~ Meditation ~ Reiki Level 2 Certified Practitioner
Jessica is a certified 500-hour yoga teacher, pranayama and meditation guide, and Reiki practitioner with over 30 years of personal yoga and group fitness practice. To witness Jessica's style of teaching, please watch this Yoga & Sound Healing Video of Jessica Teaching @ The Fives all inclusive resort in Playa de Carmen, produced by FitBodies.com.
Jessica believes yoga should be accessible to all. She has taught yoga in refugee camps abroad and to clients with penthouses in luxury buildings. She began her yoga journey at Jivamukti in New York City in 1994 and recently returned from India where she taught yoga on a spiritual pilgrimage with the Krishna-conscious community. In March, Jessica completed an additional 300-hour yoga training at Yoga Bliss in Bali to gain expertise in AcroYoga, Pre/Post Natal Yoga and Nidra Yoga. Jessica holds a Master of Public Health from Columbia University and integrates her background in wellness, public service, and leadership into a joyful, trauma-informed, inclusive yoga teaching style. Her classes blend physical movement, mindfulness, and breathwork with compassion and humor.
When she is not teaching yoga, Jessica is a transformational leadership and wellness coach, internationally recognized human rights advocate, and theatre practitioner. She was named one of Newsweek’s 150 Fearless Women Who Shake the World, alongside Oprah Winfrey and Nobel Laureates, and is an Aspen Institute Scholar, Ashoka Changemaker, and SELF Magazine Women Doing Good awardee for the work she led as the Founding Executive Director/CEO of the nonprofit, Girl Be Heard.
