I have been involved in fitness since I was a teenager. I cycle outdoors (primarily doing metric and full centuries), run (5ks and half-marathons) and was previously a ski instructor at Snowmass in Colorado. I love helping others identify and reach their fitness goals. I seek balance in my teaching between cardio and mind/body. I enjoy working with all ranges of participants from the hard-core athlete to the 60+ crowd who is looking to improve their fitness to live longer and healthier. I am very adept at determining the ability-level of my participants and am able to adjust accordingly - "on the fly" - to ensure safety as well as ensuring the participants meet their fitness goals for that class. I tend to be fairly traditional in my pilates mat teaching until I can tell the skill level of the participants. I like to use balls (large and small), bands, and rings to keep class fun and different. I teach because I love it. By day, I am a project manager with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Climate Change Science Institute.
