Jennifer Reis

Originally from Western Canada, I pursued Fine Arts with a focus on sculpture, painting, and installation art at colleges in Calgary, Toronto, and Vancouver. My academic journey extended to Eastern Religions, Buddhism, Anthropology, and Psychology, culminating in a BFA. As a professional artist in Canada, I exhibited my work nationally and received numerous grants from the Canada and Ontario Arts Councils to develop and showcase my art.

My transformative journey with yoga and meditation began at an early age through the act of creating art! During college I began studying yoga and meditation formally, which after many decades of practice, has profoundly reshaped me from the inside out.

Not long after college graduation I received my Yoga Teacher Training, followed by advanced trainings, later becoming a Licensed Massage and Shiatsu Therapist, and Certified Yoga Therapist. It’s difficult to imagine my life without these practices that have nurtured me with love and kindness, and have taught me so much about developing patience, gratitude, celebration, and humility.

Yoga has helped me find my professional path, empowering me to transition from an artist into an educator. My art and creativity now flows through personal connection with people now rather than art materials— which feels more heartfelt and meaningful to me at this time of my life.

Over two decades ago, I made a pivotal move to Kripalu Center to spend a year as a selfless service volunteer, where fate smiled upon me, introducing me to my now husband, Michael. Since then, we’ve made our home in NY and Massachusetts, nurturing our lives alongside numerous canine companions and tending to our cherished gardens throughout the years.
