My name is Renae McCullough and I am a Certified Group Fitness Instructor; specializing in Group Strength, HIIT/BootCamp, Pilates Reformer/Mat Training and Indoor Cycling. With over 25 years teaching experience and training in a variety of curriculums, I find my passion in learning and incorporating movement principles and how it differs for each person. I feel this is why I am still passionate about a number of training areas. I see the benefit in all for different individuals. I am currently the Director of Group Fitness at the YMCA of Greater Birmingham where I oversee 80+ group classes a week, Small Group Training, Pilates Reformer Training and our specialty adaptive programming (Parkinson’s PWR! Moves and LiveStrong). Being at the YMCA enables me to share my passion with those in our community and touch lives with health and wellness each day.
Healthy living & fitness have always been important to me. I graduated from college with a BS in Health Management and MS in Health Education. I competed as a collegiate gymnast and earned National Team Honors. I’ve worked with athletic teams and wellness communities and always make my way back to teaching and leading fitness. As a Team Leader and Faculty Trainer for the Y-USA, I’ve been able to train instructors to enhance their coaching skills and deliver quality, safe & effective programming. Teaching group fitness and sharing health and wellness brings me joy everyday!
