EXPERIENCE
Director of Tennis Decatur Park District 2008-present
Supervise the Fairview Park Tennis Complex during the summer months. This is a nine-
court public tennis facility. Oversee lesson program and run USTA tournaments as well as
a Women’s Pro Circuit Event
General Manager/Director of Tennis Decatur Athletic Club 2016-2023
Supervised an entire athletic facility in addition to the tennis department which included 25
full-time employees and 50 part-time employees
Director of Tennis Decatur Athletic Club 1980 -2016
Oversaw all facets of the tennis program which included all adult and junior leagues, clinics
and special events. Taught 25-30 hours of private and group lessons each week.
Was tournament director for one USTA Pro Circuit event, five USTA junior tournaments and
9 USTA adult tournaments each year.
Supervised a teaching staff of one full time tennis professional and six part-time instructors.
Summer Tennis Instructor Decatur Park District 1978-1979
Taught individual and group instruction during the summer months.
Assistant Tennis Instructor Las Vegas, Nevada 1977-1978
Assistant tennis instructor teaching private lessons to hotel guests at the MGM Grand
PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Currently serve as a member of the USTA Adult Competition Committee
Currently serving on the USTA/Midwest Board of Directors
Have been a USTA Pro Circuit Tournament Director for over 25 years. Most recently
brought the Illinois Women’s Pro Tennis Championships to Decatur in 2025. This was a
W35 event with $30,000 in prize money. Secure over $80,000 in sponsorship last year for
the event. In addition, we have over 80 volunteers involved.
Founder and President of the Decatur Community Tennis Foundation, a not-for profit 501
(c) 3 organization, which promotes tennis in the Decatur metro area. Our CTA celebrated
40 years this past summer.
Spearheaded the Central Illinois Junior Travel Tennis Conference—a USTA Junior Team Tennis
League.
From 2007-2022, served on the USTA Pro Circuit Committee
Successfully petitioned the USTA to create a USTA Competition Training Center for Middle
and Southern Illinois in 1990. Served as Head Coach and Administrator for 21 years.
Published tennis articles for Addvantage Magazine, Midwest Connection and the Decatur
Herald and Review.
Featured speaker at several USPTA National Conventions.
Personally developed numerous district, sectional and national level junior players. Many of
the students went on to play for NCAA Division 1 programs. In addition, developed the
1989 and 1990 Illinois High School Boy’s State Championship Doubles Teams as well as
the 2009 and 2012 IHSA Girl’s State Championship Doubles Finalists.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Served two four-year terms on the Decatur City Council. Elected in 2017 and re-elected in
2021. Local legislator responsible for passing ordinances and resolutions, adopting an
annual budget, appropriating funds to operate city government and approving Mayoral
appointments.
Elected November 1990 in the Macon County General Election to the Macon County Board.
Duties included setting policy, approving the budget and overseeing county departments to
ensure they align with the board’s mission. Re-elected in 1992 and 1996.
Foundation Director for the Decatur Parks Foundation—the fund-raising arm of the Decatur
Park District 2013-2017
