My yoga journey is rooted in the belief that yoga is a practice of self discovery. Each time we step onto the mat, we are invited to explore not only our physical bodies, but also our mindset, resilience and inner awareness. I view yoga as a powerful tool for growth, healing, and connection - both individually and collectively.
As a yoga teacher, I am committed to creating classes that are accessible, welcoming and inclusive for everyone. I believe yoga meets us exactly where we are. My role is to offer guidance, encouragement and promote progress over ambition in an environment that is free from judgement and expectation. The goal of any class type is to have modifications and options so students feel empowered to make choices that honor their unique bodies and personal yoga journeys. There is no "one size fits all" approach. My classes promote the freedom of choice, autonomy and self trust.
I strive to balance individual exploration with group synergy. This has been at the forefront of most of my professional jobs. As a collegiate diving coach, at Denison University, I was challenged to promote a balanced and positive team environment while also honoring each individual athlete with their unique dynamics. As a classroom teacher, at Bergen Meadow Elementary, I was challenged with the same concept. Creating a safe atmosphere for optimal learning achievement, while maintaining each student's individual learning styles and needs. Finally, as a corporate meeting coordinator, with Conference Source, the same challenge is presented. Understanding and adhering to the core values for each company while developing strong and trustworthy partnerships with team leads and direct reports is paramount for success.
I began my journey to become a yoga instructor over two years ago in order to make connections with like minded individuals that value movement as medicine. I am passionate about sharing my belief in the yoga practice and the power that is inherent with intentional movement. Through intentional, mindful movement, we nourish our joints, muscles and nervous system while building strength, mobility and confidence. Movement can be viewed as the most underrated antidepressant. Science has shown movement can boost mood, lower stress, and clear the mind. Yoga uniquely weaves these benefits together with breath and awareness. The practice has the power to transform far more that the body. Yoga can shift how we think, feel and move through the world.
