Melody Abella is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT®) with the Yoga Alliance. She has practiced yoga for over 10 years and in 2006 exited the corporate marketing world to pursue her passion, sharing the beauty of yoga with others.
Melody received her yoga certification through Down Dog Yoga in Washington, DC. She teaches the Baron Baptiste style of power vinyasa yoga and lives in the DC area with her husband Brian and dog, Briggs. Her first exposure to yoga was an "Intro to Yoga" class she took during her final semester at University of Delaware in 1994.
As a marketing professional for over 10 years for telecom and technology companies in the D.C. area, Melody is in tune with the reality and stress the corporate world offers. She has seen firsthand how people individually react to and store stress - physically, mentally and emotionally. Melody knows this experience is what partially makes her teaching style different. She also recognizes every client is in a different place -in their bodies, lives and hearts. The level of focus, strength, flexibility and stress varies for each client every time he/she steps on the yoga mat. Melody observes, listens and adapts each yoga session to challenge and transform. Though Melody will never teach you the same class twice, you are guaranteed to breath, move and sweat!
Yoga is a journey to the truth, and ultimately one's Self. As a yoga explorer, Melody believes her dedication to her own personal and professional growth is key to her clients' yoga experience. Melody regularly attends workshops, locally and nationally, with yoga masters such as Baron Baptiste, Rodney Yee, David Swenson, Patricia Walden, Max Strom and Ana Forrest. Most recently, she spent a week doing an intensive teacher training with Baron Baptiste in Maya Tulum, Mexico.
