Since my daddy threw me into the pool at 6 months old, I've been in love with water - swimming lessons, swim team, SCUBA certification - a true water baby.
I started taking aqua fit classes at 30 when I needed to get back in shape after my second son was born. The local community centre offered free child minding and soon I was splashing around and loving it.
When I was working as an editor at southwestern Ontario's largest daily paper, noon aqua fit classes kept me sane in the harsh world of publishing.
Having worked with words for 30 years as a writer, editor, communications and PR professional, I decided to get certified as an aqua fit instructor and an aquatic personal trainer. I started WaterOn Aquatic Fitness a year ago and am having good success with a unique business model. Instead of standing on the edge teaching 20 to 60 people, I'm in the water working directly with up to 9 people in a class. That way I can ensure they are all doing the moves safely and effectively. I recently started working with clients as an aquatic personal trainer as well.
I have shallow/deep certification with WaterArt and am working on my seniors and personal training certifications as well.
I continue to write travel stories, and features about health and wellness for magazines.
