Lorrie Tily is a dedicated yoga instructor, endurance athlete, and longtime community leader with a deep passion for movement, education, and wellness. She completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training certification in January 2023 and has been a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance since February 2023.

After a 33-year career in Information Technology at Cornell University, Lorrie retired and now devotes much of her time to teaching, coaching, and community service.

Since beginning to teach private lessons in the spring of 2019, Lorrie has provided personalized instruction to individuals seeking to improve their strength, flexibility, and overall health.

In March 2023, she began teaching group yoga classes through the Groton Recreation Program in Groton, New York, where she currently leads two classes each week. She has taught over 400 yoga classes to date, with a strong focus on beginner yoga, senior yoga, and chair yoga. Her teaching emphasizes proper alignment, accessibility, and fostering a supportive environment for students of all abilities.

A lifelong athlete, Lorrie has competed in hundreds of running races, ranging from the mile to ultramarathon distances of up to 50 miles. She is also a four-time Ironman finisher, bringing a wealth of experience, discipline, and resilience to her teaching and coaching.

Lorrie’s background in instruction spans both fitness and academics. She taught an Introduction to Running physical fitness course at Cornell University in Fall 2018, Spring 2019, and Fall 2019. From 2014 to 2019, she served as a volunteer coach for Girls on the Run and was a member of the local chapter’s board of directors in 2018. She also coached Odyssey of the Mind for the Moravia Central School District for eight years.

Her commitment to community service is extensive. Lorrie served as President of the Finger Lakes Runners Club for 11 years and has been a Race Director for 32 years. She also dedicated 19 years to coaching youth t-ball, softball, and baseball in the Moravia Youth League. Currently, she serves as President of the nonprofit Friends of Fillmore Glen State Park, where she contributes significant time to volunteer efforts and community engagement.

Through her work as an instructor, coach, and mentor, Lorrie Tily continues to inspire others to pursue lifelong fitness, personal growth, and confidence through movement. She believes that yoga and fitness should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age or experience, and finds great joy in helping others build strength, confidence, and a sense of well-being that extends beyond the mat and into everyday life.
