Clayton Barrier is a dynamic fitness enthusiast and educator with over 15 years of experience in movement arts and wellness. Based in Durham, NC, Clayton’s approach to fitness is rooted in his extensive background as a performance artist, blending the precision of dance with the mindfulness of yoga to develop the "whole artist" and athlete.

Expertise & Philosophy

Clayton specializes in a wide array of disciplines, including Hatha yoga, Joseph Pilates, barre, TRX, and high-intensity boot camps. His teaching philosophy centers on an active, inclusive environment that emphasizes body mechanics, anatomy, and safe practices for all levels—from beginners to advanced practitioners. Whether leading a restorative yoga workshop or a high-energy group fitness class, Clayton prides himself on meeting students at their current level and providing the support needed to raise the bar.

  • Yoga & Mind-Body: A 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) through Yoga Alliance and trained in YogaFit (Levels 1 & 2), Clayton has taught at numerous Triangle-area studios, including Wythabalance Yoga, Ninth Street Dance, and reCharge Pilates and Barre.
  • Fitness & Training: As an ACE-certified Group Exercise Instructor since 2009, he has implemented individualized exercise programs and led specialized workouts at facilities such as Fuel Fitness, Move It Be Fit, and NCCU Campus Recreation.
