Joan Beltran

My name is Joan, and I’m from Colombia. I grew up surrounded by music and dancing, at home, at school, and at every family birthday party. Dancing has always been a big part of my life. For me, it represents joy, connection, energy, and a way to bring people together.

After high school, I studied medicine, and that became my main focus for many years. Once I started working, life became very busy and demanding, and most of my energy went into long shifts and caring for others. During that time, I started going to Zumba classes because I needed something for myself, something that would bring me joy, help me stay active, improve my sleep, and allow me to connect with other people.

Later, I moved to Canada, and that transition was not easy for me. Being far from my family, adapting to a new life, and not being able to continue my medical career affected me deeply. During that time, dance became something very important to me because it helped me reconnect with myself and feel more positive, motivated, and strong.

Then one day, I went back to a Zumba class, and something clicked. I realized that I didn’t just want dance to be part of my life, I wanted to share it with others. I wanted to create a space where people could move, have fun, feel welcome, and leave class feeling happier and more energized than when they arrived.

That is what inspired me to become a Zumba instructor. I want my classes to feel like a Latino celebration, full of rhythm, movement, fun, and connection. I love the idea of creating an atmosphere where people can enjoy themselves, improve their health, reduce stress, and simply have a good time.

I recently completed my Zumba Instructor training, and since then I have been practicing every single day. I am excited to continue growing, learning, and bringing positive energy to every class I teach. I would love the opportunity to share that energy with guests and help create a fun, welcoming, and memorable experience.
