Goldie has been a certified personal trainer and group exercise instructor for 15 years. She holds certifications in both Pilates and the art of Yoga. Her specialty classes, that she uses for personal training exercises, involve Boot Camp, Sports Conditioning, Kickboxing and Weightlifting activities. Goldie began her first four years in the fitness industry as a group exercise instructor and personal trainer for solely women at another local fitness facility. Her methods of personal training for women involved strength and stability training, core conditioning, boot camp activities, and plyometrics. After 4 years of training solely women, she began personal training solely men for the next 7 years in the areas of strength conditioning, weightlifting, sports conditioning, plyometrics and martial arts. She also uses her Yoga training to teach individuals muscle specific stretching techniques for runners and other athletes. She has a dual B.S. in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Virginia Commonwealth University. She served as 1 of 10 fitness advisors for the entire 700 personnel Richmond Police Department for approximately 7 years before arriving at the YMCA. Within her personal accomplishments, Goldie completed the Boston Marathon during her college years, received the 1998 Top Fitness Award given by the Richmond Police Department competing against both males and females, teaches self defense to women of all ages and served as a volunteer wrestling coach for the Byrd Youth Wrestling Association for approximately 10 years. Most importantly, she is the proud mother of three beautiful children ages 11, 7 and 2.
