I started teaching fitness classes while I was in college at NC State University, where I earned a BS in Chemical Engineering. I was president of the Aerobics Club for two years, while attending graduate school in Wood and Paper Science.
I went to work full time with James River Corporation in 1987, but continued to stay involved in teaching Group Fitness. I moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1989, where I became an avid tennis player. In 1994, I became a USPTR certified tennis professional.
I eventually quit my full time job and concentrated on teaching tennis lessons and aerobics classes (shortly after the birth of my son). I became a certified personal trainer in 1998, in order to add to my qualifications.
I currently teach Group Fitness classes at Lifetime and LA Fitness and I am hoping to attend Yoga instructor training in August.
I also teach private, group, and cardio tennis lessons. Lastly, I still use a little bit of my engineering education by tutoring math to students of all ages.
