Until 2005 I had never been brave enough to step foot into a Group Fitness Class. Always feeling rather uncoordinated and not wanting to make a spectacle of myself, I just didn't feel comfortable in that setting. However I was well into my 40's and thinking, 'Who really cares?' So I joined my first class. I left the class feeling a new sense of confidence and energy. One class led to two and before I knew it I was taking a different class 5 days a week. The biggest benefit I saw was the change to my old body. My friends noticed the change as well and I soon became a walking billboard for group fitness classes and recruited as many friends as I could to join me. One day it dawned on me that I could do this... I could become an instructor. I starting asking about getting certified and was so encouraged by my instructors that I committed to taking the next certification course offered in my area. AFAA came to town and the rest is history.
