MaryAnn Rush

Hi, my name is MaryAnn Rush. I recently earned my Bachelor's degree in Multidisciplinary Studies, (MDS), from West Virginia University. This is a major where I declared three minors instead of one major. My minors included: Athletic Coaching Education (ACE), Sport and Exercise Psychology (SEP), and Sociology. ACE is a degree is where my passion for sport and exercise could be expressed along with my desire to make a difference in the lives of others. SEP taught me the foundations of coaching, exercise physiology, kinesiology, introduction to athletic training, and motor learning. My Sociology minor allowed me to connect my three areas of study because it focused on the social causes of human behavior while placing a high value on critical thinking. I have read about your company online and feel my knowledge and personal experiences would add value to your team. As a recent graduate on the Dean's List, I feel my educational background will benefit both of us in the progression of this company. For example: As an MDS major, my internship was done at Stansbury Fitness Center from August 2007 through May 2008. There, I gained valuable communication skills. In this role, I designed and implemented workout routines for various clients, while stressing the importance of proper form and techniques during the workout. Another aspect of my internship was health promotion. Here, I designed a fitness program for a local elementary school which included exercise activities and healthy eating/snacking tips and suggestions. These experiences helped me decide what career path to follow. I enjoy working with others while encouraging them to improve their lifestyles, which is why I became a certified personal trainer through ACE. In addition to experiences, this internship has recently influenced me to further my education for a Master’s degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion, an online program through California University of Pennsylvania. I hope to enroll in this program in January of 2009. In addition to my Bachelor’s Degree, I am certified by the American Red Cross in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid plus I am proficient to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Thank you for your time and consideration. I hope to have the opportunity to discuss future career openings with you. Feel free to contact me anytime, I can be reached at (724)-366-5572. Sincerely, MaryAnn Elizabeth Rush
