Tracy Ayrhart

Born in Fort Worth, I was raised in Michigan before returning to Texas to pursue a Ph.D. in Social and Personality Psychology at the University of Texas in Austin. Following a back injury, I began practicing yoga in 2006 to improve my core strength. I graduated from Yoga Yoga’s 200-hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training program in April of 2008 and began teaching immediately. Since then, I have further advanced my studies through attending various workshops with master teachers such as Jonny Kest, Melanie Fawer, David Williams, and Manju Jois. I have also completed advanced trainings such as David Swenson’s 40-hour Ashtanga Yoga teacher training in 2009 and Nancy Gilgoff's Ashtanga Immersion in 2010. I have had the privilege of working with local and nationally recognized teachers, including Mary Flinn, Sharon Moon, Russell Case, and Matthew Darling. I firmly believe that yoga is a tool through which we are able to explore and heal ourselves. Being present on the mat allows me to objectively observe and learn about myself. I love that yoga is a metaphor for life -- the lessons I learn on the mat are usually applicable to real life. While passing the power of yoga on to others is a part of my personal practice, I consider myself first and foremost a student. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, being on the water, and enjoying local Austin cuisine.
