It took me awhile to discover yoga but I finally found it. Exercise has always been part of my life. Professionally, I am a physical therapist who has been practicing for 22 years. As a physical therapist, I would evaluate people’s injuries or limitations and work on improving those areas. Most of my career I have worked with children and it became apparent to me that I wanted to add the spiritual and emotional aspects of healing so yoga was the perfect fit. I am a mother of 3 boys so I needed to learn how to take time for myself. As I started practicing yoga, my boys noticed the changes. they would tell me that I was a better mom after yoga. Initially, I thought yoga was about all the physical poses but as I continued it was clear that yoga is really a mental practice. It taught me that I could slow down my life one breath at a time. Practicing yoga has given me the opportunity to start bringing my mind and body into the present moment. For a long time, my energy was spent thinking about things that had happened in the past or were going to happen and therefore I missed enjoying life in the present moment. The beauty of yoga is that you can practice it wherever you are by focusing on the breath. Practicing yoga is a great way to live your life. Come and enjoy! Melanie
