Danielle Charboneau

Bio Danielle Charboneau, originally from Detroit, Michigan, started practicing yoga at the age of 16 and was instantly enthralled by the healing powers that yoga had to offer. She landed herself in Manhattan the summer of 2001 pursuing a degree in new media from the School of Visual Arts. Danielle worked many creative jobs though always in search to fill a missing void in her life Assisting artists, tending galleries, styling for fashion, curating art events, even starting her own art studio that she still runs and teaches yoga out of today. None of these things gave her the satisfaction that that first yoga class gave her when she walked out the door. Through all her creative pursuits, yoga was the thing that made her feel the most creative. Free time and weekends consisted of attending yoga classes and workshops with her favorite teachers all over New York City. She became completely obsessed with this new door that she had opened in her life and wanted to learn as much as she could about holistic studies. Her interest deepened further in holistics through her travels to South East Asia and Central America. Not only has she explored asana postures rooting from Ashtanga, Hatha, Iyengar, and Vinyassa methods of practice, she has also studied and researched chakras, meditation, healing, herbs, Ayurvedia, pranayama, nutrition, theYoga Sutras, and yoga as medicine and therapy, to name a few. In the spring of 2006 a fellow yogi approached her in a class that she always attended, and asked her if she taught yoga. This sparked an idea in her head that she had lightly meditated on, but never thought to pursue too much. It seemed though, that yoga was where her life was heading, so it was only natural to become a yoga teacher. In the next few weeks she started teaching out of her loft space in Brooklyn. People started to slowly trickle in from the neighborhood. It wasn’t until 2008 that Danielle decided to teach full time. She completed her 200 hour certification at the lovely Atmananda Yoga studio and is now registered with The International Yoga Alliance. HYPERLINK "http://www.yogaalliance.org" www.yogaalliance.org Her official training was a mixture of classic Ashtanga heat, meditation, and pranayama, with serious attention to Iyengar alignment, all put together in a Vinyassa flow style sequence. She is also a registered Restorative Yoga teacher as well, receiving her training from Yoga Works in NYC. Danielle’s main teacher has been Jhon Tamayo, founder of Atmananda Yoga, but has also studied with Seane Corn, David Swenson, David Life, Sharon Gannon, Leslie Kaminoff, Gary Karftsow, Duncan Wong, and many more. She plans to make a trip to India in the Winter of 2009 to study at the Yog-Ganga Center for Yoga Studies Dehradun, India.
