Ellen Beth Levitt

Although I have been practicing yoga for 12 years in a variety of styles, becoming a teacher was a third career for me. My first career was as a news reporter and I worked at a variety of radio stations in six cities before settling in Baltimore. Following that, became a public affairs-media relations specialist. I am the director of Public Affairs and Media Relations at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. That is my full time job--teaching yoga is my passion and I enjoy teaching it a great deal. As someone who has worked in the health care industry for 20 years, I am aware of the implications of fitness and relaxation on our physical and mental well-being. There is growing appreciation by physicians--from heart specialists to orthopaedic surgeons--that yoga practice has health benefits. I have completed YogaFit training levels 1 and 2, and I teach two classes each week in Baltimore geared to beginners and intermediate yoga students--one is 60 minutes and the other is 90 minutes. I compile my own musical CDs for the classes. I have traveled extensively over the years to more than 22 Caribbean islands as well as through Europe--Italy, France, England, Greece and Spain, and I have taken many cruises. In my travels, I always look for yoga classes and I have a good sense for what vacationers look for and enjoy.
