Almost 15 years ago I was a member at a local gym that offered a variety of exercise classes as part of the membership.  I had never taken a fitness class before, I was on my own program of long distance running and light weight lifting. It was at this time that I heard about Pilates and was interested in trying it out.  I wasn't sure what to expect and didn't think that I would be able to do it.  As I would be running on the treadmill at the gym, I would watch other gym members line up at the door, waiting to enter for an intense hour long Pilates mat class.  So I joined them, and I have been hooked ever since. 

Never in my life have I seen such amazing results in my body.  I am slender and small framed and was never in to building muscle mass.  I just wanted toning and conditioning.  Pilates gave me just that.  Not only did my core strength increase but my balance, flexibiltity, back strength and mucle tone improved greatly.  Pilates was a great addition to my workout program. In fact for the last 7 years my workout program has consisted of running at least 5 days a week and doing/teaching a Pilates mat class at least 3 times a week.  I have never looked or felt better than I do right now!! 

I am passionate about Pilates and physical health in general.  I am not a smoker, never have been and drink socially.  I watch what I eat but don't deprive myself of indulgences.  I love to work out and have an active lifestyle.  I enjoy being outside doing things like running, hiking and swimming.  I am an outgoing person with an attitude to motivated.  Many of my friends and family have asked me to help them with dieting and getting themselves in to shape.  I fully understand that every body style and fitness ability is different for each person. When I help people with their physical fitness I tailor to their needs and try to figure out what will work best for them. 

I am a high school science teacher with certifications in both Biology and Chemistry.  I have been teaching for over 15 years and love working with teenagers.  I think that my science backround has been a great benefit to my fitness practices.  I have lectures with students about eating properly and exercising.  I hope to motivate them to choose healty foods to eat and show them how exercising is a great way to boost self esteem and overall confidence.    

All in all, I love exercising and I love working with people who want to get serious about physical fitness.  I think that it is important to share my experience and excitement with people to help them have a healthier and happier life.
