Connie has over 25 years’ varied experience in the health and wellness field.  Her career began in the swimming pool where she taught and coached competitive swimming, as well as water exercise classes; specializing in perinatal clients, arthritis and post-rehab.

Certified by ACE and AFAA as a personal trainer and group exercise teacher, Connie taught Pilates privately in New York for many years.  With clients ranging from a young prima ballerina, an award-winning natural body builder and triathletes, to many clients simply wanting to increase their flexibility and core strength, Connie has trained clients at all levels of fitness.  With extensive experience in post-rehab training, Connie has helped clients cope with the symptoms of many chronic health issues with the use of Pilates equipment and philosophy.

After the birth of her second child in 1987, Connie began studying yoga and fitness for pregnancy with Sylvia Klein-Olkin, author of Positive Pregnancy and expert in holistic health and fitness for childbearing and parenting.  Connie went on to become a National Master Teacher for the training program “Positive Pregnancy and Parenting Fitness”, training other instructors in yoga and fitness for the pregnant woman.  During this time, Connie also completed certifications in the Bradley Method of Childbirth Education as a childbirth educator and through Informed Birth Organization as a labor and delivery doula.  She has combined her mind/body fitness training and her childbirth education to educate over 500 couples in the miracle of birthing and to assist 30 births, using yoga and Pilates practices extensively to increase comfort and health for the whole family.

Connie found her teaching passion with Pilates and Yoga.  First certified in Pilates through The PhysicalMind Institute, Connie extended her Pilates certification with Peak Pilates, and became a National Teacher Trainer for Peak as well. A well-known and sought after presenter, Connie teaches extensive continuing education to fitness and wellness teachers throughout the United States.  Conference presenting and speaking experiences include AFPA, ECA World Fitness, and SCW Fitness Mania conventions, where Connie taught classes in Pilates, Yoga, and Fitness Fusion, as well as sessions in the management of group exercise programming.  Connie is an ACE and AFAA continuing education provider for fitness professionals.

A 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance, Connie has studied the Ashtanga Yoga tradition extensively with Beryl Bender Birch, author of Power Yoga and Beyond Power Yoga, and is a certified Power Yoga teacher.  Connie has also completed teachers’ training with Todd Norian and is a certified Anusara-influenced yoga teacher. Other studies include Vinyasa teacher training with Shiva Rea, Baron Baptiste and Rodney Yee.

Connie currently owns and directs Balance Pilates and Yoga Centers in the Tampa Bay area of Florida.  Recent work with college football players training for the professional football combine testing and draft, professional golfers, tennis and baseball players has brought Connie’s expertise in yoga and pilates training to the pro athlete arena, where she hopes to educate these higher athletes in the importance of mindful fitness to their career longevity!  She is committed to teaching every person the value of living a healthy, balanced lifestyle, with mind/body fitness at the cornerstone of that lifestyle.
