Christopher Timmins

      Chris Timmins started practicing yoga in the spring of 2005 in Jackson, Mississippi. He was in search of a physically challenging workout that also engaged his mind and spirit. After a few months of effort and some excellent teaching and encouragement by his teachers at Butterfly Yoga, Chris began to realize the transformative nature of yoga. He never looked back. He taught yoga in Jackson for 4 years before being given the opportunity to teach at Prana Yoga in Salt Lake City.

     Chris arrived in Utah on Thanksgiving Day of 2010, and he hopes to carry a spirit of gratitude and encouragement that have been so helpful to him, on the mat and off.

     Chris has completed a 200-hour Anusara Yoga Teacher Training course with Scotta Brady, Certified Anusara Teacher and founder of Butterfly Yoga. He has also practiced and studied with John Friend, completing a Yoga Therapy Training. In 2009, he completed a Level 2 Anusara Teacher Training with Noah Mazé. Chris has also enjoyed studying and practicing with Shiva Rea, Rod Stryker, Desiree Rumbaugh, Martin and Jordan Kirk, Bruce Bowditch, Doug Keller, Sianna Sherman, Erich Schiffman and many others. He continues to broaden his studies of advanced asana, philosophy, pranayama and meditation.

     "While we all come to the yoga mat at different ages and different stages of our lives, we must all begin as Beginners. This humbling aspect of yoga is essential if we are to learn to open up the mind and the body - a process that requires patience, trust, dedication, and of course, proper physical alignment. In time these qualities, as well as many others, begin to manifest in out lives and we truly experience the all-encompassing power of yoga for positive change."
