I currently work in the Department of Health and Human Services in Washington DC.
Prior to this position, I worked as a fitness specialist and cycle instructor at multiple fitness centers in federal departments including the White House Athletic Center, Department of Education, Department of Transportation, Department of Housing Urban Development, Department of Justice, as well as the International Monetary Fund.
In May of 2006, I graduated with a Masters of Public Health from the University of South Carolina, with a concentration in Health Promotion, Education adn Behavior. I received my Fitness Instructor Certification in October, 2005 from LMC—Health Directions. While in graduate school I taugh cycle fitness classes and body sculpt classes.
During the summer of 2004 I worked at the IMF fitness center where I worked as a Fitness Instructor teaching body sculpt classes.
I graduated in May 2004 from James Madison University in Virginia with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Leadership and a Minor in Nutrition.
In 2002 I received my Personal Training Certification through the American Council on Exercise and worked as a personal trainer at the University Recreation Center. I also worked as a Fitness Instructor and Fitness Manager at the same time, where I spent a lot of time in the weight room and became very knowledgeable in weight training and supervision of a fitness facility.
I am very educated in exercise physiology and weight training and have gain practice in fitness supervision and personal training. My experience and passion for group exercise include both group strength training classes and cycle/spinning classes.
