I have been a Certified Personal Trainer since 2006 and a Certified Group Fitness Instructor since June 2007. I've always kept in shape and exercised and try to eat healthy at least 95% of the time. My motivation to become certified came after I started attending T/TH evening classes at a neighborhood church. The instructors were very motivating, positive and always there to listen and help you out. They taught a variety of classes so it never got boring. In late 2006, I decided to take a 6-week personal training course; I'm glad I did because it taught me a lot and I think it makes me a better group instructor. I felt more prepared for the group fitness course in 2007. I've been an instructor at the church since late 2007 and an instructor at the gym since August 2008 (when it opened). I teach 3 nights/week. I recently became certified in a Les Mills program as well known as Body Attack. That was tough! Talk about changing your body! I enjoy seeing new people in class each week, and I really enjoy seeing them come back! That's my motivation now...teaching people about exercise, making sure they are doing exercises correctly and with proper form, and just letting my love for fitness come through. I want to give back what MY past instructors gave to me: motivation, encouragement and everything else I can relay to my class members through words, expressions and actions!
