Born and raised in Vancouver, BC, Rachel Sanchez has more than 12 years of experience working as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. Leading a variety of different programs such as run groups and nutrition programs, Rachel specializes in endurance training, weight loss, injury rehabilitation and core/balance training.
“Physical fitness became an integral part of my life when I took up the sport of long distance running. By the time I was seventeen years old, running had become top priority in my life and I began competing in 10 km road races. Four years later, I was forced to stop the sport I loved when I was diagnosed with re-entry tachycardia, a heart condition, which produces symptoms of sudden rapid and irregular heart rate.
Despite no longer being able to run at a competitive level, after three cardiac procedures, my symptoms are now under control and I have learnt to effectively maintain physical fitness in a variety of other ways.
These days, staying fit and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is more important to me than ever. Based on my experiences, I now realize how important it is to overcome and adapt to the unexpected barriers that our lives present us with and continually build goals to live a healthy, balanced and effective lifestyle.
As a personal trainer, I strive to not only teach clients how to achieve their personal exercise and fitness goals, but I also hope to motivate clients to be even more successful in balancing their lifestyles. “
