Margaret “M.J.” Jackson is a Lifestyle Coordinator at Freescale - Club One.
M.J. graduated from Texas State University in December 2008 with a Bachelor’s degree in public relations and a minor in writing. After graduating, she studied Spanish in Costa Rica at La Universidad de Costa Rica throughout January and February of 2009.
M.J. is an Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) certified instructor. Throughout her college career, she taught classes at the Texas State University Recreational Center. Group exercise classes included an array of cardio, aerobic, strength, toning, mind/body and dance classes: Powerflex, TurboKick, CatsCrunch, Total Body Toning, CycleFit, Fitness Explosion, Cardio Combo and Unleashed, a unique fitness class M.J. herself brought to Texas State. M.J. dedicated her expertise and skill to promoting events hosted by the Fitness & Wellness program, such as Fright Ride, Friends Week and “Summer of ’89.”
In the fall of 2008, M.J. interned with 360 Taboo, promoting Austin nightlife and i-reporting live from local events.
M.J. served one term as Secretary of the Texas State Chapter Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and three consecutive terms as President. She is a member of the ProRec committee, an organization dedicated to developing and running large scale events.
M.J. completed an internship with the Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau. She worked in the Tourism department where she assisted with the planning of the ACVB 2nd Annual Luncheon, in which more than 500 guests attended. She also compiled distribution lists and produced direct-mail pieces.
In the fall of 2005 and spring of 2006, M.J. made the Dean’s List. Nominated by her professors and voted on by the Scholarship Committee, she received the Dean Student’s Service Fee Scholarship in 2007 for her involvement and professional development in the public relations sequence.
