I started teaching physical activity in college working for the Idaho State University Outdoor Program. I taught rock climbing while studying to be an electrical engineer. Towards the end of my education I realized that I did not find engineering rewarding, and I truly loved working with people, teaching them how their bodies can move, and watching them progress. After I got me degree, I went back and studied Outdoor Education, went on to lead backpacking trips, direct camps, etc., but realized that working outdoors made it difficult for me to still have th love to enjoy it on my own.
I had taken up yoga to help balance the damage my outdoor activites were causing, and being a natural instructor I was encouraged by all of my instructors become an instructor myself. I got certified in mat pilates from the Physicalmind Institute, then as an AFAA Group Exercise Instructor. Teaching yoga and pilates became my new love. I could still help people improve themselves without taking any of my own love away. I continued my Pilates studies by obtaining an equipment certification, also from the Physicamind Institue.
I now teach yoga, mat pilates, and sometimes spinning at Fitness Inc. (a local gym). I have taught there for nearly 5 years. I also teach at Mind Your Body (a local studio), where I have yoga and mat pilates classes. There I also have private clients on the pilates equipment. I spent 4 years teaching at Idaho State University for the PE program. There I taught rock climbing, yoga, mat and equipment pilates, and aerobics.
