I was born in Caracas, Venezuela and I am fluent in both spanish and english. I lived in Venezuela for 29 years, place where I completed my high-school and college in Engineering. I was always passionate about sports and fitness, and was in Shotokan Karate for about 12 years until I mastered my 1 degree black belt. My first experience with group fitness was a hi/lo class in which I pass out from the intensity. That day created a new path for me in fitness, and got addited to aerobic classes and involved in several local competitions. In January 1992 I moved to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania to attend grad school at CMU. I continued at a local gym but most of my time was consumed between school and my precious son Michael born in 1994. After completing grad school in 1996, we moved 10 miles West from Philadelphia, and I started to workout hard at a local Golds Gym. Our group fitness director forced me to get certified to teach group fitness and did so at a SaraCity Mania Convention. I have been teaching 2 classes per week and always helping as a sub. I run, bike and swim as part of my training and have done several half marathons, trail races, 3 full marathons (philadelphia, Disney and Boston), and triathlons including one Half Iron Man in Rhode Island. This summer I did my first triathlon with my son Mike and he did awesome, that has been the best event of my life so far!!
