Nuala Coombs

I have been involved in the fitness industry since 1977 when I started teaching aerobics in local facilities. In 1979 I opened my gym and worked with all aspect of fitness from group class to individual instruction with clients. In 1985 I began my own Pilates practice as a client at the Alan Herdman Studio in Homer Row. When I decided to leave the gym world - I trained with Michael King and together with Malcolm Muirhead we formed the Pilates Insitute UK. This company grew into one of the largest teacher training schools in Europe and we were the first company to achieve a nationally recognised qualification. Following on from this I became involved in formulating what has noe become the national standard for Pilates in the UK a level 3 advanced teacher training qualification. In 2008 I made the decision to relocate to the South of France where I had worked regularly for several years. I know continue with my Pilates career helping teachers develop their career, especially opening their own studios. in 2009 I launched my Pilates for Golf Programme and the Secret St Tropez Pilates retreats. Teachers and Pilates enthusiast can visit our beautiful studio and work on their own practice and skill levels along with enjoying the local nature, food and of course the wine. My plans for the future are to continue with programming for golfers and help Pilates teachers develop this niche market.
