Nicole Candler

In December 2008, I started working for Marine Corps Community Services at the Marine Core Air Station in Yuma, Arizona. Initially, the position I held was the Health Promoter’s assistant. Because of my background in ballet and teaching dance, I was given an opportunity to shadow a group exercise instructor, and eventually was given a couple classes a week, of my own. In March of 2009, I earned an AFAA group exercise certification, and also began teaching 4-8 classes a week. In November of 2009, I gained the ACE personal trainer‘s certification. In February of 2010, I was promoted to the position of Exercise Coordinator for MCCS Yuma. Regularly, I teach between 15-20 classes a week along with unit physical training sessions. I teach abs, muscle sculpt, spin, step, and cardio classes. One of the Unit PT sessions I coordinate and teach is a Body Composition Program which is a fitness program designed specifically for Marines who do not meet physical standards for the Marine Core. Also, I schedule resting metabolic rate tests for fitness center patrons along with, general fitness assessments, and body fat percentage tests. In addition, I have 5 regular clients with whom I do 2-4 one-on-one sessions per day.
