Julie Schiller

I am a 24 year old who is very passionate about teaching tennis. For my family, it is a sport that everyone is involved in. My parents, grandparents, cousins, and sister all vary in ability yet still love to play. I begun teaching tennis when I was in high school at The Atlantic Club's summer camp, and realized that my enthusiasm and excitement when it came to tennis were contagious. My experiences teaching tennis helped guide me to my choice to study health and physical education, because physical activity and taking care of your body are two things that play a central role in my life. I played 4 years of division 1 college tennis and am still an active player, as a member of numerous mixed doubles and women's USTA teams. In the summers, I work at a beautiful yacht club that has 10 clay courts. I have the opportunity there to teach beginner level players to advanced competitors ranging from 3 to 70 years old. I have recently been promoted to the Junior Tennis Director, making me responsible for coming up with all the plans and activities for anything geared towards our players 18 and under. The yacht club's tennis program is only open during the summer months, and since it was my first year out of college, I have continued teaching tennis at The Atlantic Club through the winter months. I teach private and group lessons, for both children and adults. I also got to coach a girls high school team in the fall, and the boys team this past spring. When teaching, I bring an energy to the court, and an obvious love for the sport. My most recent tennis ventures have included my second annual bout in USTA sectionals for my women's team, and a new teaching job at Maywood Tennis Center in Maywood, NJ. I am eager to show people how fantastic of a sport tennis really is!
