A course that introduces theory, skills, and techniques related to guiding groups
and individuals through meaningful lifestyle changes by emphasizing motivational
strategies and behavioral and holistic practices. Features include lifestyle
assessments, in-depth wellness and lifestyle change models, basic interviewing and
referral skills, and contact with leaders in the wellness field.
• Worked as a part of a team to develop furniture, fixtures and equipment budget-
$2,000,000.00, assisted in research related to buying equipment and supplies and
planned programming lines of services for the proposed recreation facility
expansion.
• Researched and planned the first Summer Bridge Program Trip to West VirginiaFunk,

experience allowed incoming freshmen to have a non-traditional introduction to
Ball State as a part of student retention efforts.
• Assist in recruiting, hiring, training and evaluating 8 graduate assistants
• Develop and implement wellness and fitness classes- Newest additions include
New All Guys Exercise (New AGE).
• Lead continuing education seminars for group exercise instructors sports club
officers and graduate assistants
• Conduct cost benefit analysis and maintain budgets for group exercise program
and 19 instructional recreation programs
• Manage 24 non-credit instructional classes. Classes included Beginning and
advanced yoga, ball room dancing, swing dancing, beginning and intermediate
pilates, women on weights(WOW), cycling, golf, life guarding, adult swimming
lessons, CPR/AED, group exercise instructor class, RAD, step for beginners,
IHSSA officials training, fly fishing, fly tying
• Generated a comprehensive training program for incoming group exercise
instructors- class formats include: step, kickboxing, indoor cycling, strength
training, mat based Pilate and/core conditioning. sports, strength and agility
training and fitness ball classes
• Direct an undergraduate staff team in customer service operations and membership
overseeing revenues of $100,000.00 annually
• Collaborate with academic departments in the recruitment of exercise science and
dance students to enhance group exercise instructor staff prospects
• Create and mentor practicum experiences for exercise science students
• Established a working relationship with other areas within recreation services to
provide opportunities for group exercise instructors to be more involved in day to
day operations- traditionally instructors were segregated from the larger staff unit
• Maintain risk management protocol for patrons and student employees
• Gain general knowledge of components needed to run a successful intramural
sports and sport club program
• Approve payroll for student employees on a biweekly basis $30,000.00 annually
• Created indoor cycling program Fall 2005 completed bike purchase research
