Growing up I was insanely active! I participated in competitive and school soccer, school dance team, competitive dance, track, all while going to a performing arts high school where many of my daily classes were dance classes. Needless to say, I never had to worry about staying in shape- my lifestyle just kept me that way. Once I graduated high school and was moving on to college, I had to decide whether to pursue soccer or musical theatre & dance. It was one of the hardest decisions of my life! However, I chose musical theatre and eventually earned a degree in Musical Theatre with a dance concentration. When I entered college it was the first time in my life that I wasn't playing competitive sports. Therefore, I didn't have a workout plan built in to my life. I freaked out. I took great amounts of pride in my personal fitness and loved being able to compete in almost any athletic game I chose. I refused to let myself slip... thus my new love for fitness emerged.
I began teaching group fitness classes, a nice transition from the familiar dance classes I'd been teaching for years, and reading books upon books about fitness and workout programs. I was always striving to learn more in order to personally be better. The knowledge I gained naturally transferred from me to my friends and soon I was the "go to" girl when anyone had questions about fitness and health (I title I gladly accepted).
After graduation I moved to Chicago where I booked work in the Musical Theatre industry. Alongside that, I decided to make fitness my "other" profession. I became certified through ACSM and began training instantly. I love every second of helping people achieve their goals. I consider myself a motivator and a coach- it is my job to help people learn how to gain confidence through physical activity. It's also my job to keep it fun. :)
