Karima Alpern

Kari Alpern - Pilates on the Ball

I have been interested in fitness since I was a young girl. I set up obstacle courses as a child and played on my school volleyball and tennis teams.  As a teenager my sisters and I searched out places to work-out and we learned more about increasing our fitness levels.

During my twenties when high impact aerobics was the rage, I took a 6 week formal training program and gave aerobics classes at a popular Denver health club for a few years. It was really strenuous. I was in tip top aerobic shape, but I felt something was missing. I learned about isometric exercises and about the importance of stretching.

I have been an avid hiker and bicyclist having climbed a number of “14ers” and cycled many “centuries”. During the winter I back country and downhill ski.

I have been practicing yoga for about 18 years and was introduced to Pilates about 8 years ago. I learned about Pilates on the ball about 4 years ago and was intrigued by its potential. In 2007 I took a six month course and obtained certification with Integrated Balance & Balanced Body which allows me to teach the Pilates method. I have recently completed continuing education in the Pilates method with master instructor Kris Kory and obtained AAAI/ISMA certification. I have been teaching Pilates on the ball classes to beginners, intermediate and highly trained athletes, from pre-teens to senior citizens, for almost 2 years and have seen impressive results for both myself and my students.
I am excited to begin working with you at Spectrum Wellness.
