In a nutshell, because there's so much more to any human than this--like my love for wine, snorkeling, volunteering for non-profits and walking through quiet museums:
Having grown up on the beach in Southern California, I have always been health conscious, athletic and outdoorsy. I started running competitively when I was young and went to the beach every day to either surf or tan. At college in Santa Barbara, I did yoga, hiked and studied Biology. By my Junior year, I had switched over to studying French and travelled abroad for studies. My last few years at the University, I discovered Eastern Philosophies and studied holistic medicine, consciousness, and meditation with my professor who was a Tibetan Monk. I started going to meditations and silent retreats (I even went to a meditation weekend with the Dalai Lama!). After graduate school, I went back to France to teach and work in Real Estate. I continued my yoga practice throughout my travels and professional experience. Upon returning to the states, I started a corporate career in finance. I started running marathons, which I love, and was able to accomplish my goal of qualifying for and finishin the Boston Marathon. But, I'm in the process of a major career change, which focuses more on balance and wellness. I'm turning in my running shoes (and achey knees and back) for bare feet and a yoga mat. I want to continue exploring the quiet mind and the healthy body that comes from meditation and yoga practice. I want to help lead people to the same calm, centeredness and health that I've benefited from through yoga.
