I am a certified fitness professional with more than 20 years of group exercise experience. I began teaching group exercise as an apprentice in the physical education department at Towson University. I earned my first group exercise certification from the American Aerobics Association International and International Sports Medicine Association (AAAI/ISMA) in 1995. Two years later, I became an AAAI/ISMA certified personal trainer. In the early 2000s, I also earned earned Personal Fitness Trainer and Primary
certification from the Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) and Spinning® certification from Madd Dogg Athletics. In 2008, I got licensed as a Zumba® Fitness instructor and have been teaching Zumba classes ever since!
To mark my 20th year in fitness, I became an AFAA primary examiner in 2015 and evaluated instructors who were
attempting to earn their group exercise certification. In 2016, I expanded my dance fitness classes to include the people-inspired, boot camp style, dance and toning format called MixxedFit®. The following year, I accepted the challenge to become a licensed Aqua Zumba instructor.
In addition to teaching classes, I am most passionate about educating the public about diseases that affect the community. Each year, I plan and promote special events that raise awareness and funds for charitable organizations.
