From the time I was five years old, I have been active in one sport or another. Golf was my first sport and then I played softball, field hockey and basketball. Fortunately, I was able to go to college on a softball scholarship where I was introduced to the proper mechanics of lifting weights. After my collegiate career, I stayed active in the gym lifting weights and on cardio machines. However, my routine left me in a rut so I started taking group fitness classes at Wake Forest University, where I worked my "regular" job. The group fitness instructors inspired me to get my certification and start teaching group exercise. Now, I have been instructing group fitness classes for four years and I love the interaction with the participants. Each time I instruct, I leave the gym feeling that I have made a difference in someone's life because he/she gave their best effort in trying to stay healthy through movement, just like the group instructors did when I was a participant.
Before moving to Florida, I spent several months personal training. Once I moved to Florida, personal training was my first job. Eventually, I took a job at a local middle school where I am a permanent substitute. Luckily, I have been able to keep instructing group exercise classes. Lastly, I instruct outdoor Metabolic Effect classes at a local park. Metabolic Effect is a 30 minute bootcamp-like class.
Thank you for your interest in me.
