- Scott Larkin
My Name is Scott Larkin. I am a Certified Athletic Trainer, and a
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. I currently work as
the Assistant Director of Personal Training at one of the best and most
well respected health clubs in America, Gainesville Health and Fitness,
in Gainesville, Fl. I have been working as a certified athletic
trainer, and a personal trainer in the physical therapy and health club
settings since 1998.
Everyday I wake up and live by the following mission: “I will use my knowledge and leadership to empower people to live better and grow professionally”. I specialize is post-rehabilitation training, sports performance training and periodized programing for the "everyday" athletes
My Philosophy:
I believe in training the entire movement, not just isolating and training the muscles. I design training routines that integrate movements that will mimic the movements we need to be successful in our careers, athletic events, and everyday living.
With this philosophy, I can tell what I do well... and what I do not so well. I specialize is post-rehabilitation training, sports performance training and periodized programing for
"everyday" athletes........ I won't be the best choice for body builders. Sport specific training for body builders is very isolated in terms of working the muscles. Though I have worked very closely with female figure competitors, that populations of athletes is probably not one of my strengths. Fortunately I surround myself be people that are more successful than I am in that area, so I have great resources.
My background:
I was fortunate to know what I wanted to do with my life from an early age.......... or so I thought. I have been active and athletic my entire life. When I was 14, I had my ankle severely broken while playing in a soccer tournament. I was fortunate enough to work with Aaron Mattes to assist me with my physical therapy and rehabilitation. After a lengthy rehab
process I was able to return to the field not only with a stronger ankle than ever before, but also a career path in physical therapy.
By the time I started college at The University of Florida (GO GATORS!!!), I had realized that athletic training was the path I really wanted to take. I realized that prevention was the key. As an athletic trainer I would be able to reach these athletes before they got injured, and hopefully build a bigger and better athlete.......
After about 3 years of working in the physical therapy setting, I realized that I needed to reach these "everyday athletes" before they got injured, and that lead me to Gainesville Health and Fitness
I have finally found my Passion and direction!! Being able to help people on a daily basis truly is a life changing and rewarding blessing.
