vameka nelson

VáMeka has been in the health & fitness/Performance field for over 7 years, and has always maintained an active lifestyle. Along the way she picked up a number of specialties; such as corrective exercise, performance enhancement, weight loss, weight gain, youth fitness, plyometric training, small apparatus training and body sculpting. She is a native Washingtonian who attended local D.C. Public Schools where she not only achieved academically but also participated in sports such as basketball, volleyball, golf, track and field, and softball. In 2002, she was recognized by the Women’s Sport Foundation as Scholar Sportswomen of the year. Vameka continued her education at Virginia Commonwealth University; graduating in 2006 where she received her Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Science with a concentration of Athletic Training. While pursuing her degree, VáMeka worked with athletic teams such as VCU basketball, VCU baseball, VCU track & field , University of Richmond's women soccer, & Virginia Union football. Also during that time, she found her place within the YMCA's of the Greater Richmond, Virginia. VáMeka took on positions ranging from personal trainer, fitness instructor, Lead Counselor for GirlForce, and after school and summer counselor. Upon graduation she returned to Washington, DC, and began to diligently pursue her desire to decrease the rising rates of obesity and heart disease by providing athletic training, personal training, group exercise, corrective exercise, and rehabilitative exercise services. Shortly thereafter she decided to take her "show" on the road and formed a Personal Training/ Athletic Training/ Performance Enhance business, which is representative of the site that you are currently navigating! Vameka prides herself on her commitment to the field of health & fitness. Thus she continues to educate herself and is constantly seeking professional development opportunities in an effort to stay on the cutting edge of new developments and changes in the health, fitness, rehab, and strength and conditioning. For this reason, you will see many letters behind her name… in the health and fitness field, those letters are a representation of her experience, dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to the health, fitness and performance field.
