I am, and always have been, a fitness enthusiast.
My interest in nutrition and fitness began when I was in middle school. Thankfully, at about the age of 12, I was intuitive enough to realize that the bad habits of my paternal family had led many of them to obesity and diabetes. I knew that I did not want to end up with similar problems. As a consequence, I have been devoted to health and fitness since that time.
I completed post-baccalaureate studies in exercise physiology, and have independently researched nutrition and exercise for many years. During this time, I taught an anatomy lab course as a student teaching assistant and became even more intrigued by the human body. Over the past 25 years, I have participated in various sports and fitness training programs, have competed in tennis and in foot races (including a marathon), have taught a variety of fitness classes, and have directed sports fitness/training programs for tennis players. I have been AFAA certified since the early 90's.
