While in college, I was in need of a way to make extra money. I had always enjoyed following a healthy lifestyle and working out, therefore I believed that I would like to train others in order for them to live a healthy lifestyle as well. I began training friends and eventually realized that I wanted to focus my career in the fitness industry. Since graduating college, I have worked in various gyms as a personal trainer. I started out in Carbondale, IL at Southern Illinois University's Recreation Center as a Certified Personal Trainer. From there, I worked at Great Shapes, an all women's gym and then trained and managed at Gold's Gym. These experiences served as great learning opportunities, but I decided that I wanted to move to an environment that would enable me to advance my career to a new level. I started personal training at Fitness Edge in St. Louis, MO in May of 2008. Fitness Edge is a private personal training studio. After working there for over a year, I decided that it wasn't the format that I was interested in and decided to look for a gym where I would have the opportunity to interact with more people on a regular basis. Although the format wasn't correct, it was an excellent opportunity because of the quality and experience of the staff that I was able to work with and learn from. Since January 2010, I have been working at LifeTime fitness in St. Louis, MO. In April, I was promoted to the position of Group Training Coordinator, where I supervise all small group personal training programs. I love this position and enjoy the interactions with the people that I come into contact with everyday. I am currently serving on the LifeTime Fitness National BootCamp Advisory Board, which is a four person panel that designs the workouts for all 88 nationwide locations.
