Denise Hatzis

Denise took her first yoga class in 1996 as a freshman in college and was amazed by how great her body felt afterward. Several years later, upon returning to New York City, yoga became her refuge from hectic city life. For many years, she was drawn to the physical aspects of the Vinyasa yoga practice. After a particularly stressful time in her life, she happened upon the Kripalu Yoga Center for a one-week retreat, and a new love affair with yoga was born. Not only was her physical asana practice reinvigorated, but her spirit was refreshed and her journey along the yogic path soared to new heights. After 10 years in the corporate world, her soul led her to the Rocky Mountains where she served as a Karma Yogi at Shoshoni, a residential ashram that focuses on meditation. It was here that she made the decision to become a yoga teacher.

Denise received her training in the 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program at the Kripalu Center of Yoga in Lenox, Massachusetts. She has studied many yoga traditions over the years, including Kripalu, Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga, Kundalini, Anusara, Restorative, and Bikram.

Her classes are fun and playful with easy-to-follow instructions encouraging students of all levels to work deeply while honoring and working with their limitations. She enjoys helping individuals achieve better body awareness, core strength, alignment, and connection to their breath and spirit.

Over the past 11 years, Denise has studied with many master teachers, and is in deep gratitude to Joshoda Edmunds and Brahmani Liebman, her Kripalu teachers.
