Lorrie Larribas

A dance/fitness specialist with 29 years in the fitness industry and a 45-year dance background, I have managed to maintain long workdays juggling a schedule teaching, personal training, choreographing, traveling, leading workshops and master classes, training instructors and writing for major magazines and trade journals.  I've written eight manuals for fitness professionals:  Dance Fitness Guide to Aerobic Instruction, FitKamp for Kids/Tots, Junior Fitness Programs, Senior Fitness, Defensive Eating, The Aerobic Directors Program & Policy Manual, The Health Club’s Employee Policies & Procedures Manual and Opening Your Own Fitness/Dance Studio.

I began studying ballet at the age of eight in Santa Fe, New Mexico which led to various other dance forms which have exposed me to so many facets of dance served to broaden my background and provide a greater variety of movements in my choreography and aerobic classes.  As a teenager, I began teaching in local dance studios and entered dance competitions crediting me with several awards.  Some event experiences include performing in the 1984 Summer Olympic Opening Ceremonies, The Osmonds America Fest and Buck Owens Rodeo Days.

A major interest in and concern for the care and welfare of children has also made me an innovator in childrens programs, having designed and instructed children and teen fitness programs since 1983 both privately and in the elementary school systems. My personal Interest in the senior population has led to successful implementation and instruction of senior aerobic and, especially popular, line dance classes.

A certified member (aerobics and personal training) and continuing education provider and examiner for the Aerobic & Fitness Association of America (AFAA), an organization for fitness professionals world-wide, I have worked training and preparing hundreds of instructors for certification and providing choreography and weight management programs for continuing education credit.  Other credits include regional competition judge for the US Competitors Aerobic Federation (USCAF), Massage Therapy certification, Jazzercise certification, nutrition certification, Body Pump instruction and most recently, Zumba.
