Coordinator of Intramural and Recreation Sports

Oversee operations of the Intramural and Recreation Program areas including the climbing wall, basketball courts, racquetball courts, and laundry room.  Collaborate and maintain a close working relationship with the Health, Nutrition and Exercise Science department, Outdoor Recreation department, and Athletics.

Selected Accomplishments

  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate student staff that includes recreation desk, climbing wall, and intramural officials.
  • Develop individual and team intramural sport offerings, climbing wall programs and special events.
  • Supervise and coordinate facility reservations for special events, classes and other special use of the Wellness Center.
  • Oversee the Wellness Center emergency procedures and work with the Safety Office to conduct emergency drills as needed.
  • Conduct CPR/AED and First Aid courses
  • Serve as the Wellness Center Student Voice liaison
  • Assist with the preparation and management of annual operational budgets, reports, and financial tracking.
  • Conduct in-service education for all program staff as needed.
  • Assist with assessment planning for the Wellness Center
  • Assist/support the Marketing and Technology Coordinator in developing and implementing a marketing plan for all recreational programs and services.

Student Coordinator/Student Fitness Specialist

Oversee operations of the Fitness Programs areas including the free weight area, selectorized weight equipment, cardiovascular areas, locker rooms, laundry room and computer assessment area.  Train in all new student Fitness Specialist staff.  Collaborate and maintain a close working relationship with the Health, Nutrition and Exercise Science department, Outdoor Recreation department, athletics and intramurals.

  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate student staff that includes fitness specialists.
  • Convene and chair regular meetings of Fitness Programs student staff
  • Create weekly schedule for the student Fitness Specialist staff
  • Teach variety of group exercise classes including: H.I.T., Circuit, etc.
  • Attend Fitness Program staff meetings
  • Conduct Fitness evaluations on individuals using Tri-Fit and Micro-Fit software systems
  • Design individual workouts for clients
  • Personal train clients while instructing them on safety and proper lifting technique

 Trained the athletes in sport specific programs such as; basketball, hockey, volleyball, football, soccer, and track. 

Administered pre- and post-fitness tests on the athletes to evaluate what the individual’s strengths and weaknesses were.
